i’ve been using the expansion kit for my other surfboard and it works fine. It hasn’t fallen yet and it’ll probably be there forever.

|Surf HERO expansion kit,
Exactly what I wanted. It was tough to stick the big circle mount permanently on my untouched board, but once the footage started rolling in I didn’t worry anymore.
I’ve only taken it out in small waves, but it held up fine.
There are two items that you stick on, one with a lanyard, and one with the mount and they interlock to form a circle.
The lanyard is a nice touch as a backup in case the camera comes out of it’s mounting.
The weak point here appears to be the mounting clip, so the lanyard is a great idea.
